Tucked in beside our peaceful estuary, Ngunguru welcomes all visitors who venture out to the coast from nearby Whangarei City.  This family friendly coastal town sports a golf-course, tennis courts, football field and childrens skate park. Bushwalk to Tane Moana, NZ’s second largest Kauri tree after Tane Mahuta.  Free access boat ramps to take the boat out for a fish.

Take in the  beautiful views of the estuary, as you paddle board, swim, walk the dog, and just  relax. Or share more high speed enjoyment, with a separate ski lane for jet-skis and wakeboards on the far side. 

Take the family and a picnic Kayak up the river to Skows Landing, or across to the treasured Ngunguru sandspit, protected for the plant-life it sustains, the birdlife it harbours and also for the precious history it holds.
